Chinese is something I always crave for and in Kolkata you never fail to find a chinese restaurant in almost every corner of the city. Amongst this huge lot, I’ve certain preferences. The recent Chinese restaurant which I’ve added to my list of favourites is Buddha Smile, near Netaji Nagar. I was invited here for a bloggers meet. The decor is well done. The face of Buddha that welcomes you as you climb the stairs to the first floor, looks stunning. The seating space is huge enough to accomodate around 30 people at a time. Let me discuss about the food that was served to us !
Roast Chilli Pork
The pork was roasted in a sauce flavoured with five spices tossed in chilli and soya sauce. The meat was amazingly soft. Loved the texture. The taste was excellent.
Pepper Chilli Prawn
The prawns were batter fried and tossed with black pepper, chillies, spring onions, etc. The juicy and succulent prawns were a great start to the hearty meal.
Pork Spare Ribs
Pork ribs were cooked in five spices, tossed with soya sauce, cooked in slow fire and tossed in sweet and spicy chef’s special sauce. This was heavenly ! Firstly, the quantity was more than sufficient. Secondly, the texture of the pork meat was out of the world. I haven’t tasted any better pork ribs than this !
Bok Choy With Shitake Mushrooms
The whole dish was loaded with bokchoy, shitake mushrooms and tons of fresh veggies which were extremely juicy. The bokchoy was stir fried with garlic and tossed with soya sauce. It went well with the mains.
Sliced chicken was steamed, tossed with garlic, scallion, light brawn soya sauce and served with fried garlic. The chicken was soft and tender. It was fresh and tasted great.
Prawn With Tofu
Fried prawns and tofu were tossed with hoisin sauce. The gravy was spicy and tangy. What I loved in it were the juicy prawns which stole the show.
Double Pan Fried Noodles
Crispy fried noodles were tossed with exotic veggies in light brawn sauce. I bet these were one of the best pan fried noodles I ever had.
Toffee Banana with Ice Cream
The amazing lunch ended with a great dessert. I’m not a fan of banana but these were batter fried and coated with honey and sesame. How can one stop loving these? The additional scoop of vanilla ice cream complemented it.
