I was having a pre-Christmas craving to try out a steak these days. Since I was bored with the existing limited options to avail a proper steak, I was looking for a new place. And finally, I managed to satisfy my craving through the newly opened Route 17 – The Steakhouse. Since this being a new place, I had very little expectations initially but as I tried their specialities one after another, I was completely taken aback. Let’s get into details.
I was invited here at the launch of Christmas menu. It is located on of the bylanes of Southern Avenue, close to Fuji. The restaurant is divided into three sections – the one attached to the bar ( though they are yet to get the liquor license ), the fine dining area and the private dining area. We, being a large group, chose to sit in the comfortable private dining area.
Now, the Christmas menu in general includes the following :
1. Salami Pork ( 8 pcs ) – ₹240.
2. Salami Chicken ( 8pcs ) – ₹220.
3. Sauted Beef – ₹400.
4. Chicken Galantine ( 6pcs ) – ₹320.
1. Roast Turkey with Plum sauce – ₹400
2. Duck ala-orange – ₹400
3. Mix Grill ( boneless chicken, roast chicken leg, chicken and Mutton kidney, sausages ) – ₹400
4. Roast pork with Apple sauce – ₹350
From this Christmas menu, we tried :
Chicken was cut into six thick slices in oval shape, boiled and served with chopped spinach, raisins and cashew. The chicken was soft and the raisins provided the much needed sweetness. On our recommendation, it was served with an orange sauce which further elevated its taste.
Roast Turkey with Plum sauce
Alternate pieces of Turkey and pork were arranged linearly and a certain amount of plum sauce was poured over them. The sides were potatoes and veggies like broccoli, american corn, babycorn, carrots, etc. This was excellent. The meat was wonderfully cooked and the plum sauce, made in-house, did a commendable job !
This was another masterpiece from the steakhouse. The duck was delicious, as was the amazing orange sauce spread over it. Actually, all their sauces are excellent in a way ! The sides were once again baby potatoes and veggies.

This was unexplainable both in terms of texture and taste. This was like beauty created on a plate. Grilled pork chop was topped with red wine base concasse sauce, served with mashed potato, French fries, parsley potato and veggies. The final garnish was done with fried apple. The pork was so soft that I melted in my mouth. This is definitely recommend !
In the end, I would actually mention the dish, which was my favourite for that night. Grilled tenderloin was marinated with garlic powder, olive oil, black pepper, parsley powder, mustard powder and served with mashed potato and sauted veg with red wine base pepper mushroom sauce. The steak was medium cooked and perhaps the best tenderloin steak I had till date. The texture and flavours were on spot. Definitely coming back for this one !
Overall, Route 17 – The Steakhouse is definitely going to be one of the most trending places in the city. There are diverse varieties of meat and each one is prepared in an excellent way. A special mention to the amazing sauces which add a special flavour to the dishes. The Christmas menu has some exquisite inclusions which are brilliant and deserve a try.
Verdict : Must Visit.
