Alfresco – The Lalit Great Eastern is ready to celebrate Durga Pujo with their customers in a grand way. This year, Alfresco, has come up with a lavish buffet spread. The menu is unique and diverse. The Bengali spread includes authentic dishes like Sapla Chingrir ghonto, Phulkopir paturi, parser aam kasundi, Goalondo steamer mangshor jhol, Murshidabadi chicken biryani, etc. Apart from the Bengali dishes, the buffet menu isn’t devoid of their regular Tangra style Chinese and Mughlai ( Pillars of Bengal ). There’s also a wide variety of salads, breads and desserts that would make you cherish your meal.
Let’s have a look at my favourites on their menu.
Grilled Basa in Thyme sauce
This was the dish that made almost everyone fall for it ! Undoubtedly, this stood as my favourite among the whole buffet section. The basa was amazingly cooked and spiced. It came with babycorn, potatoes, etc.
Noodles with Tangra style chilli chicken
The noodles were amazing, cooked with onions, capsicum and spring onions. The chilli chicken was sweet and spicy and went well with the noodles. Don’t miss out on this superb combo.
Among the vegetarian dishes, this took a different stand! Well, I never had heard of cauliflower being cooked within banana leaves. And literally the dish seemed as if it was fish, until the dig and take a bite. The sweetness marination over the minced cauliflower and the spicy kasundi layer on top was magical !
Murshidabadi chicken biryani
The rice was very well cooked. It was loaded with chicken and eggs. The chicken was non spicy and juicy. The biryani overall had a wonderful impact on my mouth.
Goalondo steamer mangshor jhol
Do keep space for this as the soft, delicately cooked mutton in the spicy gravy is definitely going to leave you spellbound. The mutton stole my heart !
Kesar malai cham cham
This was my favourite among the dessert section. The combination of kesar and malai were divine and imparted a new flavour to the typical white cham cham.
Nolengur baked yoghurt
The yoghurt was amazing. It was rich and thick, topped with a crunchy biscuit.
How could the rajbhog be not in my list of favourites? Yes, being my all time favourite, I loved the rajbhog. It was hot and juicy.
